Fashion Trends | 2007-2016

  Hello everybody!
This week's blog post is quite fun, interesting and #throwback! It is fashion through the years, beginning at 2007 and ending at the just past year, 2016. You've probably noticed there are constantly new fashion trends appearing and leaving, some of which you must have tried. Because another year has gone by I thought it would be fun to react to some fashion trends through the years...

   ▪️2007: Customised converse trainers
   ▪️I have done this trend!

When this trend first came out, it was all the rage! Everyone was doing it, it was basically the coolest DIY out there. So obviously I wanted to join in. I went around asking friends how they did it. The reply I usually got was 'Colour Me Mine' of course! For those of you who don't know what colour Me Mine is, it is all about personalisation. You colour the item, for example a bag, with the
provided pens and made it unique. I was obsessed! I used the pens provided to customise my trainers as they were basically fabric pens. One day I was really bored so I just drew all over my cheap white         pumps and I would wear them out thinking I looked really cool (when in actual fact I probably  looked like I'd let a 3 year old draw on my shoes). Unfortunately I eventually threw away the shoes and I don't think I have photos so I can't show you mine, sorry!

   ▪️2008: Preppy Headbands
   ▪️I've definitely done this trend!

When I was a lot younger I used to be obsessed with headbands, if I ever saw any in a shop I would try it on and beg my parents to buy it for me. Sometimes outfits came with headbands and I'm not  gonna lie, if I was clothes shopping I would ask to buy the outfit with the headband just because it    had a headband. Every opportunity I had to wear a headband, I would wear a headband. It was  worrying. Seriously, I probably have about 20!!

   ▪️2009: Short-Shorts with tights
    ▪️I've done this trend!

Whenever I did this trend I really liked it. I thought of it as a way to dress up a pair of cute shorts. You know when you see those really cute shorts but they're quite thick, I assumed that they were made to go under tights and I still do! If I was going out to a smart restaurant I would wear shorts with tights and a long sleeve top and BAM! I look cute. Or at least I thought I did. Let me know in the comments what you think of this trend, and should it keep going?

   ▪️2010: Lady Gaga meat dress
▪️Obviously I have never done this trend!

Obviously I have never done this but I thought I'd mention it since it was the buzz for weeks! If you didn't know about this, uuummmmm have you been living under a rock? But anyway, I'll tell you  some details anyway, at the 2010 MTV Music Awards, American singer Lady Gaga wore a dress  made of raw beef, which was commonly referred to by the media as the meat dress. The creator of the dress was Franc Fernandez. All I can say about this is EWWW! And Why?

   ▪️2011: Varsity Jacket
   ▪️ Unfortunately I haven't done this trend

This is a trend I always wanted to join in on. Unfortunately I never did. When these became an item of fashion it didn't matter if you weren't in a varsity athletic team, it was a style statement and as long as it looked good you were ok! This trend went on for a while and you could find one in nearly every clothing shop!

   ▪️ 2012: Neon clothing
   ▪️I've probably done this trend

I can't remember ever wearing neon but I must have. I use the term neon here as bright (VERY BRIGHT) colours, for example people would pair a bright yellow top with a bright blue cardigan and some bright green trousers. Many people still dress like this but I mainly find people wear neutral colours with perhaps a pop of colour! I mainly wear black, I know I can't go wrong with that.

    ▪️ 2013: Statement sunglas
    ▪️ YAASSS!!!!

I absolutely love Statement sunglasses. Whether it's the size or a funky pattern. I love them! I think if you're wearing quite a simple outfit put on some funky sunglasses and it's like you have a whole new outfit! I do buy quite a lot of sunglasses and I always get a different pair. I usually have some brown pairs incase I'm wearing warmer tones. I also usually have a few pairs of black/silver sunglasses for cooler tones.

 ▪️2014: Dungarees
▪️  I've had a go at doing this trend

I own one pair of dungarees and honestly I didn't wear them for long. I came out of the 'dungaree phase' quite quickly, I feel like this phase didn't last as long as some of the others or perhaps that's just me. I remember struggling to find something nice to go with them. If you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments below. And maybe I'll buy some new dungarees and bring back this trend?!

     ▪️2015: Off-The-Shoulder tops
     ▪️Unfortunately I haven't done this trend

I love these tops and I would still love to buy one. They became trendy in 2015 but I think they're still in fashion. I've tried on a few but they weren't right. I'm still on the hunt for one!

 ▪️2016: Velvet clothing
 ▪️haven't done this trend

I haven't done this trend on purpose, if I'm honest I'm not that keen on velvet clothes. In the past I've tried on velvet clothes or seen people wearing velvet clothes and I've thought, "Wow, that's cute!" I think if you can find the right thing it can look incredible, I'm just still looking for the right thing.

That's all for this week! I hope you enjoyed reminiscing on this fashion journey! I know it was a very long post, but hopefully you didn't mind! This blog post took me ages so please show it loads of love as usual! You're all so amazing! Love you!

My New Years Resolutions | 2017

  Hello everybody!
Happy New Year! I hope you all had an awesome celebration! I still can't believe that 2016 is over and it is now 2017! To start the New Year positively I thought I would see if I had accomplished my resolutions from last year and make some new ones...

Last Years 2016 Resolutions; did I complete them?

▪️Keep improving my blog so that I hit 1000 views! We hit 500 around November... let's see if we can achieve this crazy amount by March! - I'm so proud of myself and you for completing this! Our community has grown rapidly and we hit 1000 views specifically on 12 February 2016 which is incredible!

▪️Be more organised - don't leave everything last minute! I'm that kind of person who will say, yeah I'll do it in 10 minutes! Then half an hour later I'm getting stressed over it because I haven't done it, which brings us onto the next one! - I have completed this, although I'm still improving at it. As proof; I'm writing this blog post earlier than usual!

▪️Don't get too stressed out over things! I have done this too many times and got myself into a state! It's terrible to do this so I just need to try not to think of the negative side of things and instead, focus on the positives! - Well, let's just say I'm improving...

▪️Eat healthier! Yes, I know this is the most common resolution, but I cannot say how important this is! It will improve my energy levels, mood and general health I'm sure! - This one I have completed and I am still improving. Everyday I have a apple as an afternoon snack and I have granola and yoghurt for breakfast and vegetables with every meal. (Apart from pizza, you can understand. Right?)

▪️Read more books! When I read I love it! I can just never find the time, not that I never have time - I just find something else to do, but in my head I'm thinking I should really be reading! - This one definitely improved, over the summer I read loads and it made me feel so good about myself!

▪️Get out of the house more! Whether it's a walk on the beach or doing stuff in the garden, enjoying the fresh air also keeps me happy! - This one is still a work in progress, sometimes I have really lazy days but other days I feel more active. On Boxing Day I went on a walk along the beach front with my family.

  My 2017 New Years Resolutions

▪️Make my blog the best it can be so that I hit 7500 views! My current views are 4925, which I still can't believe! Because it's 2017 let's try and hit this ridiculous amount by the end of the year!

▪️Like I said before I'm still trying to improve my stress levels so this resolution is staying, I feel like 2017 is going to be the year!

▪️Another resolution that is staying is getting out more, it's definitely improving but I don't think it's improving to its fullest extent. Whether it's a shopping spree at a market or a jog in the morning, it will happen!

▪️Create a gratitude journal - I think these are quite important because they help you think positively and get you in a good mood. I am going to follow a 30 day prompt for this, and the first day's entry was "what smell are you grateful for today?" The smell I am grateful for is freshly baked bread.

▪️Improve my makeup skills and try new looks. I received lots of makeup for Christmas so now I have to use my "makeup knowledge" and creativity to create an amazing masterpiece on my face.

▪️Improve my grades and academic skills. Sometimes I can enjoy studying/working or sometimes it can seem like the most boring thing in the world but it's still very important so I need to remember; however I feel, that I must put education first.

That's all for this week! I hope you enjoyed and perhaps you even got inspired by my resolutions! I love doing these kinds of blogs because they help me open my eyes and see all the possibilities for the next 365 days. Just remember to think positively and then you have the key to a happier and healthier life! Love you all!

Mince Pies with zesty orange pastry

   Hello everybody!
What would December be without a baking blog? Mince pies are my favourite treat of the festive season and a real Christmas tradition in my household. I love the twist on this recipe (the zesty orange pastry) so why not show my loyal fans how to make some of the best mince pies EVER!!!

 Makes: 30
Prep time: 20 minutes plus chilling
 Cook time: 20 minutes

  Ingredients:
500g plain flour
175g icing sugar, plus extra for dusting
375g cold butter, diced
Zest and juice 1 large orange
500g mincemeat
1 egg, beaten

  Method:
1. Heat oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5.
2. In a food processor, whizz together the flour, icing sugar and butter until they form fine crumbs (or rub in with your fingers). With the blades running, add the zest, then 3 tbsp orange juice. Process for a few secs until the mixture forms clumps. If you need to, add a few extra tsps orange juice to bring the pastry together.
3. Tip onto a very lightly floured surface, knead briefly until smooth, then chill in the fridge for 30 minutes or until firm. The pastry can be made up to 3 days ahead or frozen for up to 1 month.
4. Lightly dust the work surface with flour, then roll out the pastry to approx £1 coin thickness. Cut out 12 x 8cm rounds with a fluted cutter and press into a 12-hole-non-stick bun tin. Re-roll the trimmings to the same thickness and stamp out 12 x 5cm rounds for the  tops. Spoon about 1 tbsp mincemeat into each base and press on the tops.
5. Brush the tops with the beaten egg, then bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and crisp. Cool for a few minutes, then lever out carefully with a table knife and cool on a wire rack.
6. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Warm gently to serve, dusted with sifted icing sugar, if you like.

That's all for this week! I hoped you enjoyed this oh so festive baking blog! I can't believe it's only a week until Christmas!! Next week my blog post will go up on Monday 26th December, instead of the usual Sunday post due to the festivities. So, since my next post will be after Christmas Day - love you all and Merry Christmas!!!!

December Playlist + Musical.lys

  Hello everybody!

This week's blog post is definitely a favourite, it's a "playlist and musical.ly compilation" (festive version!) I know I mention this in every blog with this theme, but, if you don't know what Musical.ly is, it is basically an app used for lip-syncing. You have a large variety of songs that you can lip-sync to and post them for all your friends to see.

For this posting I am lip-syncing to Christmas songs so here is the link which leads to the musical.ly on my YouTube channel:

   https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q5EbyE8IFj0

Now I move onto the playlist, the songs on the playlist are the songs that made a 15 second appearance in the video, the songs are the full versions.

The songs that are on the playlist are:

   ▪️ Mistletoe by Justin Bieber
▪️ Santa Tell Me by Ariana Grande
▪️ All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey

Here is the link for that: http://www.podsnack.com/ISayBell/avhnethh

That's all for this week! I hope you enjoyed this post. I love all the songs on the playlist and I think the video is great! I also hope that you now feel in the Christmas spirit! I will see you all next week for another blog post! Love you all!
