Christmas Cracker Jokes

  Hello everybody!
This week’s festive blog post is Christmas cracker jokes. For me, Christmas crackers must be one of the most exciting parts of a Christmas dinner, everything about them is so much fun: the paper crown, the gift you get inside and of course, the awful jokes! So, for this week’s post I will be giving you some of the best and worst Christmas cracker jokes to get you in the festive mood!

▪️ Why are Christmas trees bad knitters?
       They keep losing their needles

▪️ Got a Christmas card full of rice today, I think it was from my Uncle Ben.

▪️ Two snowmen were standing in a field. One said, "Can you smell carrots?"

▪️ What did Adam say the day before Christmas?
        "It‘s Christmas, Eve"

 ▪️ What’s a dog’s favourite carol?
       Bark, the herald angels sing

▪️ What does Father Christmas do when his elves misbehave?
       He gives them the sack

▪️ What do Santa’s little helpers learn at school?
       The elf-abet!

▪️ What do you get when you cross a snowman with a vampire?
       Frostbite

▪️ Why did no-one bid for Rudolph and Blitzen on eBay?
       Because they were two deer

▪️ Who hides in the bakery at Christmas?
       A mince spy

▪️ What is the best Christmas present?
A broken drum, you can't beat it!

▪️ What do you call a blind reindeer?
        No-eye deer

That’s all for this week’s blog post! I hope you enjoyed! Special thanks to a good friend of mine for this blog post idea. Are there any jokes that made you giggle? Christmas is in 8 days which is incredible!! I think December has gone by so fast! I’ll see you on Christmas Eve!! Love you all!

Gingerbread Men

  Hello everybody!
This week’s blog is another Christmassy post! I bring to you the Decembrr 2017 bake! This was probably the most fun bake I’ve ever done and it tastes incredible! I baked gingerbread men. If you’d like to find out how to bake these carry on reading!

 Makes: 12-20
Prep time: 30 mins to 1 hour
Cooking time: 12 to 15 mins

  Ingredients
350g/12oz plain flour, plus extra for rolling out
 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
 2 tsp ground ginger
 1 tsp ground cinnamon
 125g/4½oz butter
 175g/6oz light soft brown sugar
 1 free-range egg
 4 tbsp golden syrup

  To decorate
 Writing icing
 Cake decorations

  Method
 1. Sift together the flour, bicarbonate of soda, ginger and cinnamon and pour into the bowl of a food processor. Add the butter and blend until the mix looks like breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar.
 2. Lightly beat the egg and golden syrup together, add to the food processor and pulse until the mixture clumps together. Tip the dough out, knead briefly until smooth, wrap in clingfilm and leave to chill in the fridge for 15 minutes.
 3. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4. Line two baking trays with greaseproof paper.
 4. Roll the dough out to a 0.5cm/¼in thickness on a lightly floured surface. Using cutters, cut out the gingerbread men shapes and place on the baking tray, leaving a gap between them.
 5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden-brown. Leave on the tray for 10 minutes and then move to a wire rack to finish cooling. When cooled decorate with the writing icing and cake decorations.

The reality of home baking isn’t always what you see in the final photos.... When baking my gingerbread men, a few of them had a small mishap, which actually became one of my favourite parts of this bake. No bake is perfect!

That’s all for this week’s blog post! I hope you enjoyed! I’m so excited for Christmas and I’m sure you are too!! I will see you next week. Love you all!

Christmas House Tour

  Hello everybody!
This week’s blog is my first Christmassy post!! I’m so excited for Christmas and I’m sure you are too! That is why I am featuring a Christmas House Tour, I did one for Halloween a year ago and you really seemed to like it so I’m doing it again, but for Christmas!

As you can see from the photo above, I have a small black christmas tree with a few bauble bunches and some fake holly and frosted holly to give it a bit of colour. I also have a Zara Home gingerbread candle which is a must have at Christmas time, it smells so good! You can also find some cute ceramic house tealight holders and a chrome metal church tealight holder. These give a lovely warm glow to this area.

For my console table display, I have a Zara Home gingerbread reed diffuser, I love the scent so much that when I saw it in the shop I just had to get it again (this is the 3rd year running). I also have a sequin star which is actually a chocolate box, but it was too glittery to throw away when the chocolates were all gone so now it is used as a sparkly decoration! I also have this lovely white stag snow globe which looks so pretty on the table. I have another small light-up glitter globe which is from Macys.

To decorate the fireplace and chimney breast, I have some curtain lights which look so effective and give a lovely glow in the evening. You can have them permanently on or a flashing pattern or even a waterfall effect!

This is my nativity scene, other than a christmas tree this is probably my biggest family tradition and was a gift from my uncle. I think it adds such a Christmassy feel to my house and I can’t imagine decorating my house and not setting it up.

And now of course, my Christmas tree! I don’t have themed baubles, I have sentimental decorations on my tree which have been collected over the years, I usually get a new one or two as gifts every year.

That’s all for this week’s blog post! I hope you enjoyed! My Christmas house decor basically stays the same every year because we love to remember previous Christmases, especially from when I was very young. If you have any family Christmas house decor traditions please let me know what they are in the comments below. I will see you next week for another festive blog post! Love you all!

Paddington 2 | Movie Review

  Hello everybody!
This week’s blog is a movie review for the new movie ‘Paddington 2’. I remember watching the first ‘Paddington’ and absolutely loving it so I was very excited to watch the new movie. In this post I’ll be saying a bit about the movie - obviously without spoiling it! I’ll also be giving my review of it.

Film: Paddington 2
Starring: Hugh Grant (Phoenix Buchanan), Ben Whishaw (Paddington), Hugh Bonneville (Henry Brown), Brendan Gleeson (‘Knuckles’ McGinty), Sally Hawkins (Mary Brown), Julie Walters (Mrs Bird), Jim Broadbent (Mr Gruber), Peter Capaldi (Mr Curry), Madeleine Harris, Imelda Staunton, Samuel Joslin, Joanna Lumley, Michael Gambon, Noah Taylor, Eileen Atkins, Tom Conti, Sanjeev, Bhaskar
Director: Paul King
U.K. Release Date: 10 November 2017
Rating: PG
Genre: Animation, adventure, comedy, family, fantasy
Runtime: 1h 43min

Storyline: Paddington is happily settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, where he has become a popular member of the community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes. While searching for the perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, Paddington spots a unique pop-up book in Mr. Gruber’s antique shop, and embarks upon a series of odd jobs to buy it. But when the book is stolen, it’s up to Paddington and the Browns to unmask the thief.

My star rating: 3.5 stars out of 5

Favourite character: I’ll have to make the exception and put two; Mary Brown & Paddington because they’re both so positive and passionate.
Unlikeable character: Phoenix Buchanan, I won’t say why because I don’t want to spoil the movie for you.
Memorable moment: When Knuckles and Paddington were making marmalade - a sweet moment.

That’s all for this week’s blog post! I hope you enjoyed! If you’ve watched this movie let me know what you thought of it. I loved it and would recommend to watch with friends or family. I will see you next week for another blog post! Love you all!

November Playlist + Musical.lys

  Hello everybody!
This week’s blog post is a "playlist and musical.lys" blog. It feels way longer than two months since I last did one of these kind of posts. I really enjoy recording the videos and I know you enjoy them too. I mention this in every blog with this theme, but, if you don’t know what Musical.ly is, it is basically an app used for lip-syncing. You have a large selection of songs that you can lip-sync to and post them for all your friends to see.

This month, I am lip-syncing to the most popular songs on the app, so here is the link which leads to the musical.ly compilation on my YouTube channel:
  https://youtu.be/dIcCJZOA3_s

Now I move onto the playlist... I post my playlists on an app called Spotify which most of you will have heard of. My Spotify username is @ISayBell.Blog if you want to follow me! The songs on the playlist are also on the video, but on Spotify you can listen to the full versions! So... the songs that are on my playlist are:
▪️ How Long by Charlie Puth
  ▪️ Friends by Justin Bieber & BloodPop®
▪️ Make Me (Cry) by Noah Cyrus Ft. Labrinth (Marshmello Remix)

Here is the link for the playlist:
  https://open.spotify.com/user/isaybell.blog/playlist/3dvk8Kw5U1rx8UG6iz1ELR?si=qL-dSLoHSSODMd8UEBo9QQ

That’s all for this week’s blog post! I hope you enjoyed! Let me know what your favourite song was! I also must add; 6 days ago we hit 10,000 page views!! This is so incredible and I still can’t believe it! I just want to say thank you for the constant support I get from you. With that, I will see you next week for another blog post! Love you all!

Guy Fawkes Night

  Hello everybody!
Today, the 5th of November is Guy Fawkes Night, hence why I am writing this post. I’ll be giving you some ideas on how to spend your Guy Fawkes Night, but before I get into it here’s a brief explanation of what Guy Fawkes Night is incase you don’t know...

Guy Fawkes Night (also known as Bonfire Night) is a bonfire and firework festival in Britain. It remembers the Gunpowder Plot of 5th November 1605.

  Bonfire event:
Instead of having your own bonfire in your garden, it is more common in the U.K. to attend a Bonfire Night event and they are usually held in every town. But in case you’re not completely sure what a bonfire event is, it’s a large open-air fire to celebrate the event that happened hundreds of years ago.

  Fireworks:
Fireworks are such a big thing on Bonfire Night. Most Bonfire events also include some of the most impressive firework displays you’ll ever see.

  Food:
Of course food has to come into this list. There are some great traditional foods to have on Bonfire Night. Some of the most well known are toffee apples, s’mores and parkin. Last year I baked parkin and it tasted delicious, so this is a must if baking something for Bonfire Night!

  Drinks:
There are some drinks to celebrate and keep you warm and cosy. A drink for adults is mulled wine and a drink for children (or adults!) is hot chocolate, preferably with whipped cream and marshmallows!

  Clothes:
You’re going to want to wrap up in layers for this special evening because in the United Kingdom it will be very cold (maybe take an umbrella as well!) You’ll definitely need a woolly hat, a scarf and gloves!

  Garden decorations:
If you’re having a house party, it will be dark outside so lanterns are a pretty way to light up your garden.

  Poem: I’m sure some of you know the poem for Bonfire Night. I have a short extract from it for you incase you haven’t heard it before;
Remember, remember the fifth of November,
 Gunpowder treason and plot.
 We see no reason
 Why gunpowder treason
 Should ever be forgot!

That’s all for this week’s blog post! I hope you enjoyed! If you celebrate Bonfire Night I hope you have an amazing evening and stay safe! Remember to keep your pets indoors as fireworks are scary for animals. I also hope you’ve learnt a bit about Bonfire Night if you didn’t know about it before now. I will see you next week for another blog post! Love you all!

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

  Hello everybody!
This week’s blog post is a bake! Since it’s around the end of October, I’m sure you all know that Halloween is right around the corner! So for this month’s bake I bring to you - some Halloweeny/Autumnal Pumpkin Whoopie Pies! If you’d like to know how to make them carry on reading...

 Makes: 20
 Prep time: 25 minutes
 Cooking time: 15-20 minutes

Ingredients
 420g plain flour
 1 teaspoon salt
 1 teaspoon baking powder
 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
 1 tablespoon ground ginger
 340g light soft brown sugar
 225ml vegetable oil
1 tin (424g) pumpkin purée (or home made pumpkin puree)
 2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract

  For the filling:
 200g unsalted butter, softened
 500g icing sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
 300g full-fat cream cheese

Method
 1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/GM4. Line two baking trays with greaseproof paper or grease 2 bun tins.
 2. Put all the dry ingredients, except the sugar, in a large bowl and mix.
 3. In another bowl, whisk together the sugar and oil until well combined, then add the pumpkon purée, eggs and vanilla and whisk until smooth.
 4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and combine.
 5. Using a small ice cream scoop with a release, scoop 20 balls of dough and space them apart on the baking tray or place a scoop of the mixture into the bun tins.
 6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
 7. Make the filling by creaming the butter in a bowl and slowly adding the icing sugar and vanilla paste/extract until fully incorporated and smooth - you might need to pop it in the fridge for 5 minutes as stirring the cream cheese can sometimes make it watery.
 8. Sandwich the cakes together with a thick layer of cream cheese filling and enjoy!

That’s all for this week’s blog post! I hope you enjoyed! These tasted so amazing and are definitely a bake for autumn. The pumpkin really made it but I’m sure there are other combinations that would taste great! I will see you next week for another blog post! Love you all!

My Top 10 Halloween Costumes

  Hello everybody!
This week’s blog post is a Halloween post! With only 9 days to go I’m sure you’re in the Halloween spirit! If not, I present; my top 10 Halloween costumes! If you haven’t got a Halloween costume yet, this will help you. I will be giving you a few ideas of how to wear the costume.

  #1 Clown, especially Pennywise
I find clowns terrifying so this is definitely appropriate for Halloween. The movie ‘It’ recently came out so I’m sure most of you have already ‘met’ Pennywise and this is such a relevant costume right now, I had to include it.

 How to style this costume:
I think the things that make Pennywise so recognisable are his red balloon and outfit. An easy way to make his outfit is get a white dress and stick on some red pom poms and everyone will know who you are. Oh, and don’t forget your red balloon.

  #2 Vampire
Vampires are such a classic for Halloween and this is why it has made my list. There are new ways people are styling them every year which is why there’s a vampire for everyone.

  #3 Zombie
I love the Zombie costume because there are so many takes on it. You can chose other characters that have become a zombie and you have yourself a Halloween costume that has your own twist on it and will look super effective.

  #4 Ghostly Ghoul
I like this costume because it can look elegant and very creepy which is my kind of costume!

  #5 Devil
I’m actually doing this for Halloween this year so I had to include it! It’s also a classic which you can interpret in so many ways!

  How to style this costume:
A dramatic red sparkly eye and a recent trend, ombré lips, red with black outline looks effective for a devil. Don’t forget your horns and trident!

  #6 Skeleton
When you think of Halloween do skeletons come to mind? Of course they do! This is such a classic and probably the most Halloweeny you can get for boys costumes.

  #7 Krazed Jester
I think what could make this costume effective is the way you act! It would be so much fun to act all silly for a night, so if you dress up as a jester for Halloween, record yourself acting crazy and send me a video to my Instagram (@ISayBell_Blog).

  #8 Sugar Skull
This is such a pretty costume and I think the makeup looks beautiful and colourful. I think it would be great fun to do with a friend to create the ultimate ‘Halloween Friendship Goals!’ Perhaps try doing half sugar skull and then normal glammed up side?

  #9 Witch
Of course I had to include a witch. It wouldn’t be a Halloween costume list without one. I remember when I was younger my Halloween costume was always a witch. I would still do a witch, but maybe with a slightly different twist.

#10 Creepy Doll I really like this idea because as someone who’s a girly girl this is the perfect costume. It’s the perfect combination of pretty and creepy!

  How to style this costume:
I like the idea of a cracked porcelain doll. To do this all you need is white face paint (or a cheap foundation in the lightest shade, since face paint can be drying or can irritate the skin) cover your face with the face paint/foundation and use eyeliner to draw cracked lines to finish the look.

That’s all for this weeks blog! I hope you enjoyed! I have a challenge for you; make a list (I’d reccomend using your phone because you’ll probably almost have that with you). Write down all the costumes I’ve listed and if you go to a party or even if your in town tick off the costumes that you see people wearing! I hope you enjoyed this weeks blog post! Love you all!

Quotes

  Hello everybody!
This week’s blog post is dedicated to quotes. There are so many different quotes so I thought I’d share a few of my favourites with you. If you have a favourite quote please leave it in the comments below as I would love to read them!

▪️ Congratulations! You’re not perfect! It’s ridiculous to want to be perfect anyway. But then, everybody’s ridiculous sometimes, except perfect people. You know what perfect is? Perfect is not eating or drinking or talking or moving a muscle or making even the teensiest mistake. Perfect is never doing anything wrong – which means never doing anything at all. Perfect is boring! So you’re not perfect! Wonderful! Have fun! Eat things that give you bad breath! Trip over your own shoelaces! Laugh! Let somebody else laugh at you! Perfect people never do any of those things. All they do is sit around and sip weak tea and think about how perfect they are. But they’re really not one-hundred-percent perfect anyway. You should see them when they get the hiccups! Phooey! Who needs ’em? You can drink pickle juice and imitate gorillas and do silly dances and sing stupid songs and wear funny hats and be as imperfect as you please and still be a good person. Good people are hard to find nowadays. And they’re a lot more fun than perfect people any day of the week.

▪️ For what it’s worth: It’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start over.

▪️ People get scared when you try to do something, especially when it looks like you’re succeeding. People do not get scared when you’re failing. It calms them. But when you’re winning, it makes them feel like they’re losing or, worse yet, that maybe they should’ve tried to do something too, but now it’s too late. And since they didn’t, they want to stop you. You can’t let them.

▪️ The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.

▪️ Sometimes walking away has nothing to do with weakness, and everything to do with strength. We walk away not because we want others to realize our worth and value, but because we finally realize our own.

▪️ I’ve learned a lot this year … I learned that things don’t always turn out the way you planned, or the way you think they should. And I’ve learned that there are things that go wrong that don’t always get fixed or get put back together the way they were before. I’ve learned that some broken things stay broken, and I’ve learned that you can get through bad times and keep looking for better ones, as long as you have people who love you.

▪️ I decided, very early on, just to accept life unconditionally; I never expected it to do anything special for me, yet I seemed to accomplish far more than I had ever hoped. Most of the time it just happened to me without me ever seeking it.

That’s all for this weeks blog post! I hope you enjoyed! Let me know what your favourite quote was from this list. These quotes, I think, really open your mind and make you think in a positive way . I will see you next week for another blog post! Love you all!

Pop-Tarts

  Hello everybody!
This week’s blog is a bake I’ve been wanting to do for ages... pop-tarts!! I’d never eaten pop-tarts before this bake which made it even more exciting. This bake is inspired by another baker called Tanya Burr, her bakes always look incredible so I wanted to try myself.

 Makes: 6
 Prep time: 40 minutes
 Cook time: 20-25 minutes

  Ingredients
 250g plain flour
 2 tablespoons golden caster sugar
 1/2 teaspoon salt
 200g cold butter
1 egg, plus extra for brushing
 1 tablespoon milk

  For the filling:
 1/2 jar (225g) strawberry jam
 1 tablespoon cornflour

  To decorate:
200g icing sugar Pink food colouring
 Sugar strands
 Ready-made strawberry sauce (optional)

  Method:
 1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/GM4. Line two baking trays with greaseproof paper.
 2. To make the dough, mix the flour, sugar and salt in a bowl, then rub in the butter with your fingertips to a breadcrumb consistency. Mix in the egg and a tablespoon of milk until a dough forms - add a little more milk if it’s looking too dry.
 3. Heat the jam and cornflour over a low heat until it’s loosened. Set aside to cool slightly.
 4. Roll out the dough to 3mm thick. Cut the dough into 8cm x 14cm rectangles - you should get at least 12 rectangles. I made a template from laminated cardboard to get the sizing correct.
 5. To assemble, lay out six rectangles on the baking trays. Add a teaspoon or two of the jam filling to each square, leaving a 1cm border around the edge. Brush the edges with egg and lay the remaining pastry rectangles over the top. Use a fork to press down around the edges, then poke a hole in the top of each one. Brush each tart with egg and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
 6. To decorate, combine the icing sugar, food colouring and a little water in a bowl until you have a thick icing.
 7. Spread a layer of icing over each tart and sprinkle with the sugar strands. Drizzle with strawberry sauce, if desired.

That’s all for this weeks blog post! I hope you enjoyed! This was quite a challenging blog but definitely one to try! They tasted absolutely incredible and there are so many different flavours to chose from and so many more cute ways to decorate them! If you make these please tag me on Instagram @ISayBell_blog as I’d love to see your take on them. I will see you next week for another blog post! Love you all!
